Protest action on May 9, 2026 in Vienna
On May 9, 2026, Austria will take to the streets for people with ME/CFS. Around International ME/CFS Day, the Austrian Society for ME/CFS is holding protest actions in several cities to draw attention to a reality that is part of everyday life for thousands of people affected: seriously ill, often isolated – and still receiving inadequate care. In Vienna, the central protest action will take place from 14:00 to 16:00 at Platz der Menschenrechte.
ME/CFS has been recognized by the WHO since 1969 – but many patients are still waiting for adequate medical care, social protection and sufficient research. This is precisely what the #unversorgtseit1969 campaign is drawing attention to. Installations, video projections and public visibility are intended to show what otherwise often remains hidden: life in darkness, isolation and exhaustion.
As the WE&ME Foundation, we stand by the side of all those affected, relatives and supporters who demand what should have long been a matter of course: Recognition, care and biomedical research.
Our request:
Be part of it. Share the campaign. Become visible.
Organized by ÖG for ME/CFS.
